Three madrassas competed in Mustadafin Foundations first inter-madrassa quiz.

Three madrassas competed in Mustadafin Foundation’s first inter-madrassa quiz on Saturday October 19 at the Grassroots hall in Gatesville.

The competition had two categories – the junior and senior – and each team had three rounds. The quiz had 35 participants from three madrassas in Khayelitsha, Delft and Sherwood Park, and questions covered a range of topics, including Islamic history, laws and morals.

Sherwood Park madrassa won first place in the junior category and in the senior category, Delft madrassa took first place.

The objective of the quiz was to expose the work being done at Mustadafin madrassa centres, to encourage youth participation and teamwork, but to also bring about a fun perspective on madrassas.

“We would like the competition to grow into a popular annual event among youth in different areas with hundreds of teams trying for a chance to represent their madrassa. We are truly overwhelmed with the support and the way our pupils delivered and presented themselves on the stage,” said Shameemah de Jongh, project co-ordinator of Mustadafin Foundation.
