One of our most anticipated annual events – especially among the kids in Mitchells Plain, Khayelitsha and Delft – is our Positive Day project. On this day, child safety meets a world of fun as almost 300 children are chaperoned on an outing they will not forget.
Mustadafin Foundation, in partnership with SAPS and the safer schools project, entertain 300 children from the communities we serve at the water slides at Manandi Beach. The children spend hours splashing in the pools, lapping up the sun, gobbling up hotdog rolls, grilled chicken and ice lollies while learning the rules of safe water play, stranger danger and looking out for each other.
When the eating is done, end of year gifts are passed around and each child leaves knowing they are loved. We are thankful to New Kidz on the Block and Heart.fm for including our children in their Toy Run distribution. The peels of Joy when they received their gifts were priceless! (See photo gallery)
Staff and children agree that this day is the highlight of their year! A positive day indeed. Can we have another one, please?
